Press-Art DTF Transfers work best with HEAT. Regardless of whether you use an iron or a professional heat press, the goal is to get the film HOT, so the glue melts and sticks to the shirt. It sticks best to fabric by applying medium/ firm pressure.

So make sure you set your press to a medium to firm pressure. Not overly hard to close, but not too light where the shirt can slip out.

Once you get the press pressure right. Next is time and temperature.

The following are the recommended settings for different type of fabrics:

Cotton:
Temperature: 320°F
Pressure: Medium to firm
Time: 15 seconds

Polyester:
Temperature: 295°F
Pressure: Medium
Time: 10-15 seconds

Cotton/Polyester Blends:
Temperature: 300°F
Pressure: Medium to firm
Time: 15-20 seconds

Nylon:
Temperature: 280°F
Pressure: Medium
Time: 10-15 seconds

Spandex/Lycra:
Temperature: 275°F
Pressure: Medium
Time: 8-12 seconds

Tri-Blends (Cotton/Polyester/Rayon):
Temperature: 300°F
Pressure: Medium
Time: 15-20 seconds

Wool:
Temperature: 280°F
Pressure: Medium
Time: 10-15 seconds

Leather:
Temperature: 275°F
Pressure: Light to medium
Time: 10-15 seconds

Once the time runs out, carefully remove the shirt from the press, laying it flat on your table before peeling.

Peeling:

Regardless of fabric type, you will PEEL WHEN COLD. Allow transfers to cool before you peel. We recommend peeling them at an angle, and if this is the first time using transfers, peel them a little slow to give yourself time to adjust if necessary.

IF you encounter any issue with the art not sticking to your garment. STOP PEELING, and lay your garment back onto the press and press it one more time for good measure.

Once it cools, you’re good to Peel.

If you encounter any issues with the peel, it’s more than likely that your heat press is not heating right OR you didn’t apply the right pressure. Make sure to test a samples and get your settings right. Sometimes heat press coils go out, which causes uneven heating and results in not being able to peel right.

We recommend monitoring your press for performance prior to pressing for the best experience.

Post Press:

Post press is optional, but is recommended. To do a post press, apply a teflon sheet to the top of your graphic and then press again for 10-15 seconds. This will permanently lock in your designs and help your prints be extra durable.

Key Tips:

Always perform a test press: Different fabrics and even different brands of the same fabric type can react differently.

Adjust pressure as needed: Some fabrics, like spandex, may require lighter pressure to avoid deformation or scorching.

Use a heat press pillow: This can help distribute pressure evenly, especially on garments with seams, zippers, or buttons.

Check for temperature accuracy: Ensure your heat press is calibrated correctly, as temperature discrepancies can affect the transfer quality.

What is Press-Art™?

Press-Art™ is made by processing your art and creating a base layer for it. The base layer is an adhesive which is activated with heat. The top layer is digitally printed by a huge printer.

The look and feel to Press-Art is similar to a screen print, with the stretchiness of a vinyl. It’s made to withstand the elements and bring your designs to life.

How do I order Press-Art™?

We wanted to make the ordering process as easy as possible. If this is your first time using Press-Art, we recommend you order one of our Bulk Sheets. The bulk sheets give you the freedom to test different types of images, logos, sizes and styles.

If you already know what dimensions you want, then you can order our pre-cut Press-Art. There is a small minimum to order this way, but it removes the guesswork out of cutting it yourself.

What’s the difference between Single Sheets and Bulk Sheets?

The single sheet is perfect for the designs you know you need to stock up on. For instance, say you want to order prints for your t-shirt collection, you can quickly choose the dimension and have them shipped pre-cut so you can store away and grab when needed.

But if you’re doing a one time job, maybe for a client or your sampling for a collection, then a bulk sheet works great for this. We recommend using bulk sheets when you’re ordering a lot of random designs.

What supplies or equipment do I need to use Press-Art™?

The beauty of Press-Art is that all you need is something hot. This means you can start with an iron! (Don’t believe us - watch this)

To improve production and end results we highly recommend upgrading to a heat press. Any heat press that can keep consistent heat works best.

Can I use Press-Art™ on any type of garment / fabric?

Press-Art works on pretty much any type of fabric. It has been tested on cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, nylon, denim, suede, hemp, hats, bags, leather, and more. The art is in the adhesive, as long as you can heat it up, it will stick!

Fabrics that are thin we recommend you adjust the amount of pressure and heat being applied. Go light pressure, slightly lower temp (290°F) and this should prevent burns/ marks to the fabric. Remember to ALWAYS do a test press on new products you try.

How durable is Press-Art™?

Press-Art is EXTREMELY durable when applied correctly. If you experience issues, that means it was applied incorrectly. We have been testing Press-Art since the summer of 2022 and are approaching 50 washes on a variety of products. All of which are holding up strong! At this rate we estimate the t-shirt will go bad before the print does.

We have also been running physical stress tests on sports players such as football, baseball and track. Press-Art is coming for the win!
